You've Been Nailed

hey y’all! new mani. i wasnt inspired by anything, i was just sort of going with the flow and i LOVE how it turned out. i was going to identity fest in toronto so i wanted something fun, summery, and that screamed ‘RAVE WARRIOR PRINCESS’, (angie can attest to that particular conversation’s train of thought. it was funny. i swear).

also, DONT JUDGE ME, the base colour is OPI nicole by justin bieber’s “my lifesaver”. i borrowed it from my sister (sshh, dont tell her, apparently younger siblings have MAJOR issues with sharing), along with her black & white striper. she’s a major justin bieber fan, so i actually got her the polish for her birthday. i mean, for gods sake, she has a LIFE-SIZE CUTOUT OF HIM IN HER ROOM. actually. its just a LIFE-SIZE FACEPALM.

heyyy heyyy! after doing such a fierce, geometric, colourful mani, i wanted to do something that was more demure. so i grabbed my most modest orange and threw some green and black on my super-long obnoxious nails. “demure”…me? LOLZ, that’s as demure as it gets!

this one kind of reminds me of marie antoinette stylez. i don’t know why…maybe its the fact that it uses a delicate pastel pattern with black? well anyways, we all know she was the original bad bitch (take note, nicki minaj, and study lil kim while you’re at it) so i love this one long time!!

howdy, gangsters! check out these sweet neon pink and green fade nails! they remind me of happiness and sunshine and watermelon candies and summer. UNLIKE the pissy weather in kingston right now. i swear the atmosphere over here has menopause, guys.

did this with a sponge, just like the last tiger-stripe ones i did, it was super easy. adding a top coat really helps to blend all the colours together. i like that the fade is not 100% gradual, it looks like i did it with that spray-paint tool in microsoft paint. LOL GUYS REMEMBER MICROSOFT PAINT? HAHAHAHA

I finished two 12-page papers this week and DAMN, i feel like a champ. ive been rocking these since Tuesday cuz
a) i needed a work break and OBVS i was gonna spend that doing my nails and
b) when you’re working on papers for days straight, looking down and your nails and seeing how swag they are is a TOTAL pickup. DEFINITELY reminding you that there is beauty outside of the traumatic experience of writing geography papers. UGH. srsly guys, i NEVER want to talk about permafrost ever again. EVER. AGAIN.

i LOVE the snakeskin pattern on these! i did it by putting a piece of netting over a black base, and sponging beige and green polish over it. i used shine of the times as a top coat (LOL what else would i use? i LOVE that stuff). AND, got these AWESOME gold studs from..you guessed it…dollarama! that store is the SHIT. this one seems really popular, a tonne of people have commented on them…so i’m def rocking them again!

sooo it’s the day after st. patrick’s day…and 2 days after friday…wooahh. WOOAHH guys. im getting too old for this shit. my liver is practically a post-trauma patient all on its own right now. time for ceasars with brunch! :D

this is my st pat’s mani that i did a few days ago…it’s really damn elaborate, it took me over an hour, and i love it! i put ‘shine of the times’ (srsly i’m addicted) on the pot of gold to make it more realistic, cuz you know, of the details. i’m pretty sure i used over 15 pots of polish on this one. my fave one is the beer for sure…it’s so cute!!

so i REALLY didnt want to take off the neon orange but that little voice inside my head that likes painting nails so much was like…’dooooo eeeeeettt’. also i kinda had to do it today because i have to do a st. patty’s one for this weekend! WOO!

today i have peacock feathers!! they so purrty. i shoulda done all my nails with the feather design but i thought it would take way longer than it did, so i just didn’t put down a white base for all of them. next time! there are 6 different polishes used on the feathers themselves : urban outfitters green #1, revlon (WOOOO) tangerine, revlon midnight affair, opi no room for the blues, and of couse, essie shine of the times (SOOO SPARKLY YAYY), and my black striper. for the glitter fade i used urban outfitters green #1 and revlon blue mosaic. enjoyyy!! :D

Hola, Loverz!

Beholden this crazy french manicure! isn’t it trippy? to me it’s like a harlequin mask like they wear at mardi gras, except with easter colours. OMG! mardi gras is coming up soon! OMG YOU GUYS! i should do a mardi gras manicure! a MARDICURE! and we should celebrate by getting drunk!! and showing people our titties!! oh. well. maybe not that last part. still excited though!!

INSTRUCTIONS : I did this by doing one thin coat of a transparent shiny pink, then i took the green and painted diagonally on the nail, then did the same with the yellow on the other side of the nail, then stuck a leetle jewel on the apex of the pink section. AND YES. i DID just use the word “apex” in an every-day context.

NOTES : you want to make sure that, when doing the dual-tone “tips”, the nail polish that is MORE SEE-THROUGH is the one you put on first. if you put it on after the more solid colour, you will have to put like a bajillion coats so that it covers the other colour underneath. not only is that really time-consuming, but your polish will become all thick and mucky-looking, and it will take FOREVER to dry. and obviously i have very important things to do other than wait for nails to dry, like…like…umm…TYPING. YEAH. typing. also try to get the “apex” in the centre of the nail so that when you lay down the jewel, it is in the middle of the nail.

PHHEEWWW whats up guys! it’s been a while since my last post. I’m sorry I’ve been such a lazy bum, I LITERALLY only got my mojo back after diplo on Sunday morning! Diplo, btw, on Thursday, was AMAZING. omg. WHAT. A. SHOW. we got up to the front for a bit but then angie got knocked over and almost trampled, and I realized that they probably wouldn’t find our frozen bodies until the show was over, so we went to the back and danced our asses off for the rest of it. HARDCOORREEE!! igloofest - i one hundred percent endorse that shit!

so today i am uploading a photo of my friend angie’s awesome tribal print nails. these are kind of AMAZING. i dunno how she does it, i saw her nails and my eyes were popping out of my head, they’re so cool.

also you may notice that the index finger on her right finger is missing some polish. this is because regardless of how much time she spends on her nails, she has this thing where she picks at them. i kind of had to yell at her all night to NOT pick at her nails so that i could take a pic of them for the blog. TOTALLY WORTH IT MWAHAHAH!!

last week was hipster night, aka dress super hipster and go to an alternative bar, and, to top it all off, get really drunk off of PBR and other such hipster beverages. this is my gorgeous friend angie getting ready for a night of pretentiousness and dancing only with her shoulders.

i reeeheeeelly couldn’t wait until tomorrow night to do my nails again, so today i thought i’d play around with fades. and guys, this is a fade…within a fade.

i did a blue-green-white fade from thumb to pinky, and then glitter fade from cuticle to tip. it looks amazing in daylight!!

alas, it won’t last long, as tomorrow i must redo my nails in honour of my future husband, diplo. i’m a good imaginary wifey like that. it’s okay though, they only took about half an hour, they were really easy to do, and i got to use some colours i havent used in a while :) anyway, diplo you so sexy, you worth it.
